WYSL Coaching Requirements

All travel coaches and managers must complete the following before being added to a team roster.

Background Check

Required criminal background screening for all adults working with players.

Every 2 Years

Heads Up Concussion Training

CDC concussion awareness course for recognizing and responding to head injuries.

Every 2 Years

SafeSport Certification

U.S. Center for SafeSport abuse prevention training to protect young athletes.

Yearly

Coaching License

US Soccer Grassroots coaching license appropriate to the age group being coached.

WYSL orientation webinar covering league rules, registration, and game-day procedures.

One-Time Only

Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA)

Online workshop focused on positive youth development and creating a healthy team culture.

Coaching Courses

US Soccer Grassroots Licenses (4v4, 7v7, 9v9, 11v11) — approximately 4-hour commitment each. You must complete the free introductory module first before enrolling in an age-specific course.
