An Exciting Announcement Regarding Youth Soccer in Briarcliff

April 13, 2012

Briarcliff Parents,

We are very excited to announce the launch of the new unified Briarcliff Youth Soccer Club (BYSC) non-profit youth sports organization for the youth of Briarcliff Manor, NY.  The new BYSC will manage and deliver all of Briarcliff’s youth soccer programs of play and will be affiliated with the American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) through its AYSO Region 202 division and the Westchester Youth Soccer League (WYSL) of the United States Youth Soccer (USYS), Eastern New York Soccer Association through its FC Briarcliff division.  For the past year, FC Briarcliff and Briarcliff AYSO have been working collaboratively and after reflecting on the results, both boards have voted to merge and become the Briarcliff Youth Soccer Club.

The mission statement of the BYSC:

Briarcliff Youth Soccer Club (BYSC) is a unified non-profit and volunteer-run organization that offers a positive, enriching, year-round soccer experience for the youth in Briarcliff Manor, New York.  BYSC is committed to developing the whole player and offers programs of play for every player ability level through its affiliations.

The benefits moving to a unified soccer club are tremendous:

-          Aligning under a single mission statement offers the ability to offer a cohesive soccer vision and philosophy for the Briarcliff community.

-          Adopting a singular club wide player development model ensures all youth players have an opportunity to grow and develop their skills to the highest level through a well-defined age-based, systematic approach adhering to both US Youth Soccer (USYS) and AYSO curriculum guidance.  The player development model will encompass professional trainers for all camps and clinics along with player pool evaluation and development for our U8-U10 groups.

-          Moving to a unified shared services model approach for registration, coach training, equipment ordering, player evaluations and team formations, field allocation, community events, marketing and communications, fundraising, professional team training and professional-led clinics and camp offerings, treasury, insurance, and legal will remove the duplication and will greatly simplify the overall experience for parents along with lowering the overall cost of our programs.

For announcements, we will be primarily using our website www.briarcliffsoccer.org for all youth soccer announcements such as registration dates, field closures, FAQs, spring player evaluation and travel program information.

Lastly, please join us in celebrating the new BYSC at our 2nd Annual SoccerFest on June 23, 2012 at Law Park from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm (Rain date is 6/24).  We will have amusements, food, music, and fun along with special guest stars from the NY Red Bulls.

We are excited about moving forward together in our collaboration around our players and community. We feel in many ways this will bring Briarcliff to the forefront of player development and experience, for the full range of players, from recreation level through travel. If you have any questions about the new organization, please feel to contact either of us via email at info@briarcliffsoccer.org.

For all parents, we invite you to a parent soccer information session on May 10, 2011 at 7:30-9:00 pm at the Macy Road Recreation Center. The session will discuss any questions you may have about the merger or any of our programs of play.

Sincerely,

Tom Richer, Briarcliff Youth Soccer Club
James Rinzler, Briarcliff Youth Soccer Club
