Games begin Sunday 4-17 for U7/8 and older divisions.
New Heading Rule this Spring: From U.S. Soccer, applicable to ALL Youth Soccer Organizations. NO HEADING IS ALLOWED IN GAMES for age groups U11 and below (U12 & below in AYSO). Intentional heading will result in an indirect free kick being awarded to the opposing team from the point of the header, with modifications set forth in the rules when the heading takes place inside the goal area. COACHES PLAYERS AND PARENTS SHOULD BE FAMILIAR WITH THIS RULE. Coaches, please discuss with referees before games. To see the rule CLICK HERE.
CONCUSSIONS: US CDC CONCUSSION AWARENESS TRAINING IS MANDATORY FOR ALL COACHES. Get it done via a link to the CDC training from www.AYSOTRAINING.ORG Parents are highly encouraged to take the training as well at the CDC Website.
AGE GROUPS: Another rule change from US Soccer. Starting in Fall 2016, all roster years will follow a Calendar Year Format, rather than School Year. So all kids born in 2007, for example, will only play with kids born in 2007. We are transitioning this Spring with some of our U8 kids. For most, there will be no effect. Generally, if you are born in Sep-Dec of any year, and are one of the oldest kid in your grade, you are affected. BYSC will do all out can to smooth the transition.
NEW THIS SPRING: Our U7 and U8 teams (1st & 2nd graders) will play some games against our neighbors in Pleasantville and Mt. Pleasant. This will involve some home games and some away. We did this to provide the kids some variety in who they play, as declining enrollment is shrinking the number of teams we have. SAME RULES AND FORMAT APPLY: these are DEVELOPMENTAL and INSTRUCTIONAL games. Just because we are playing other towns does not change the focus. Please do not play up rivalry and competition, OR THE EXPERIMENT WILL END.
